How to live a fulfilling life?
This morning, you were awakened by your alarm clock. You were still sleepy. But you need to prepare for work. So you rushed to take your breakfast.
This is your daily routine. But you can’t complain. It’s life. Or that’s how society and the educational system might teach you. As a result, you always beat yourself just to conform to the norm.
Sadly, the busy world makes us strayed from the fact. It steals from us our happiness. It manipulates our thinking and makes a faulty assessment of our very existence.
Most people think that if they get what they want, they will become happy. So they keep working hard every day without understanding.
At the end of the day, they will ask themselves what they have done.
Happiness can’t be found anywhere. This is the reason why people who travel around the world to become happy never find it.
The truth is, happiness resides in you. If so, there’s no point looking it in others places. Instead, the best thing to do is to seek it inside.
But how can you find happiness and fulfillment?
The following steps will help you cultivate a happy and fulfilling life.
1. Stop worrying the small and big things in your life.
Humans are very emotional beings. Our emotions are easily affected by external events. But when we examine our life closely, we’ll realize that there’s nothing worry about.
The bad thing about worries is that it creates negative imaginings. And negative imagination will almost always result in stress.
Instead of worrying, try to assess whether or not you have some sort of control. If you can control your current circumstance, then take some actions to fix it. If you don’t have power over it, then let it go.
Do not stress yourself. It’s futile and damaging to your well-being.
2. Explore new things.
Most people are uncomfortable in trying new things. They love their daily routine because they are accustomed to it.
But in reality, immersing yourself in a totally new and challenging experience allows you to grow. The more you explore, the more you learn and become skillful.
Successful people love new experiences. That’s they never settle.
Life is, in fact, a journey. Confining yourself in fear hinders you from achieving a happy and fulfilling life.
3. Cherish each moment of your life.
Life is so short. The belief that you have 50 years or so to spend in this life is an illusion. The truth is that there’s no tomorrow. The only real is the now. If you are still alive 12 hours later, you are more than lucky.
Because life is so short, you better cherish it. Don’t waste having so much fear and negative imaginings. Live each moment as if it is your last minute in this world.
It sounds scary. But it’s the reality.
Every morning, before I leave home, I always kiss my wife and say to her that I love her. I do it every day without fail. Why? Because I don’t know if I can come home alive. Life is so fragile.
So before everything becomes late, spend every moment of your life in a meaningful and productive way.
4. Surround yourself with happy people.
You can’t find happiness and fulfilling life among negative people. Why? Because sadness and stress are negative emotions that are highly contagious.
Instead, of going with negative people, find the smiling ones. Happiness is also contagious. The good thing about being happy is that it has several positive impacts in your life.
Ultimately, happiness will lead you to a successful life.
5. Imagine success.
Imagining that you are already successful can help you reach your goal fast. Mental representations are powerful in making your dreams real.
Look around you, all the things you see are products of imagination. Everything that you build in your mind will become your reality in the future.
So if you think that you will achieve a happy and fulfilling life, you will. The only question is what kind of imagination you cultivate in your head.
6. Celebrate your achievements.
Pursuing a daily goal can be very exhausting. That’s why every achievement you made needs to be celebrated.
Don’t worry, it does not mean that you need to spend a big amount of money. A simple dinner with your friends and loved ones is enough.
Just give yourself a little reward for what you’ve done.
7. Be responsible for your actions.
You can’t be happy by blaming others for what happened in your life. You need to take charge of everything. If there’s one person who is responsible for your own happiness, it’s you.
Blaming is a way of making excuses. There’s no hope in that. It does not allow you to grow. So you better take charge of your own life.
8. Share what you have with others.
There’s a saying that says: “Giving is more important the receiving.” And it is true. Because the more you give, the more you receive.
Recent studies on happiness found that those who share or give are happier than those who do not.
Sharing allows you to expand your world and gain more friends. The bigger your social connection, the more likely you become happy.
In summary, achieving a happy and fulfilling life is not difficult. But, please don’t wander too far. Because the only place where you can find happiness is inside you.
Are you ready to achieve a happy and fulfilling life?
Then start now by taking necessary steps towards your goal.
