The best fruits and vegetables include carrots, bananas, green leafy vegetables, apples, lettuce, berries, cucumber, citrus fruits, and kiwifruit.

The conclusion was drawn from more than 400 participants in New Zealand. The researchers monitored the participants’ dietary habits and psychological health.

Dr. Conner added:

“Controlling for the covariates, raw fruit and vegetable consumption predicted lower levels of mental illness symptomology, such as depression, and improved levels of psychological well-being including positive mood, life satisfaction and flourishing.

These mental health benefits were significantly reduced for cooked, canned, and processed fruits and vegetables.

This research is increasingly vital as lifestyle approaches such as dietary change may provide an accessible, safe, and adjuvant approach to improving mental health.”

This study suggests two things. First, you don’t need to spend a lot of money to gain better mental health. Second, foods determine one’s health.

So if you want to feel good, find foods that fight stress and depression.
