However, as we age, the connection between the neurons loosens up making difficulties in storing memories and remembering them. There are many ways a person can do to prevent memory loss. The brain, like the muscle in the body, weakens when are not activated. To keep the muscle strong and intact, you need to exercise it.
Strategies to avoid memory loss
As mentioned, there are good ways you can do to remain mentally healthy. Below are some of the simple yet effective strategies you can use to exercise your brain.
Play memory games
There are games that could help strengthen your brain health. Play cards and chess. These games are known to be helpful in exercising the brain.
Maintain a daily diary
Studies have found out that writing your own experiences could boost your well-being. Maintaining a diary is helpful to refocus your mind inward instead of allowing it to wander. When the mind runs on autopilot, it tends to focus on the negative things around you.
A physical exercise is essential to the maintenance of the health of the brain. Physical activity helps blood circulation which in turn allows the oxygen to reach the brain. Glucose and oxygen abundance in the brain help the neurons function well because these two are neural fuels.
Have enough sleep
Studies in neuroscience found out that sleep deprivation has a significant negative effect on memory and cognition. So if you are lacking sleep, your cognition may suffer resulting in memory gap or forgetfulness.
