How can we achieve a successful life?
Surely, all of us want to be successful although success has different definitions for each one of us. We want to become somebody, to be rich and marry the perfect person we dream of. We want so many things; we are all eager to become successful.
But in most cases, we don’t know how. Because we don’t know exactly what to do, the mass majority fail the moment they try to chase success.
In fact, some people claim that 98% of the whole population doesn’t have a successful life. This means that there are only 2% who really succeed. I’m not sure though if it pertains to financial success. But the claim reveals something. Success is hard to accomplish.
Success can be of many forms. It depends on our own aspiration. Despite the different faces of success, the way to accomplish it is the same.
To become a doctor, for example, you need to study in school – study hard for a long period of time. If you want to be a champion, you’ve got to work hard every day in the gym to win the competition.
In my own experience though there are only four things we need to remember to achieve a successful life.
1. Be certain what you want.
The first and the most important thing to achieving success is to be sure what you want. This involves examining your inner voice. What do you love doing? In other words, find your passion. Passion is your path. So choosing the right thing is critical. You need to be sure that you’re on the right track. And no one can tell you which is the best for you. You’re the only one who can recognize it.
2. Work hard.
People say that the only thing that connects between dream and reality is work. In other words, there’s no other way to achieve success other than work. The harder you work, the more successful you’ll be. This is the single thing you can see among successful people in different areas of life.
3. Be willing to embrace hardship.
To succeed in any goal is difficult. But in order to win in anything, you’ve got to be willing to love hardship. Accept it without complaining. You need to understand that pain is part of the game. Train your mind to ignore pain. This is not easy but it’s doable.
4. Believe in yourself.
This is the most powerful of all – self-belief. If you doubted your ability, you’ll find a hard time to attain your goal. Your self-belief will be the only thing remains stable when everything falls apart.
The journey to success is long. Along the way, you’ll experience frustrations, defeat, and failures. In order to persevere, you’ve got to believe that you can. Believe in yourself that you are somebody capable of achieving anything. Without self-belief, you are nothing.
I still remember when I left home to pursue my dream – to pursue a college education. I sailed more than two thousand miles just to prove to myself that I can be somebody. During that time, I didn’t know what to do. I just wanted to chase my dream. I had a goal and I was willing to do anything to realize it.
Today, when I look back, I couldn’t believe what I’ve accomplished. I finished college and have a productive life. The most important thing I’ve learned from my experience is that goals are changing but the way of achieving them remains the same.
